The life of a club is the daily expression of its founding principles, its staff and physical facilities, and most of all, its current members. The Westmoor Club was founded on notions of an active, healthy, well-lived life, on the importance of family and friendship, and of common courtesy and civility. The Club's facilities are superb. We have hired distinguished professionals to organize every part of the Club. We continue to enlist a group of committed, congenial members to bring life to all the possibilities The Westmoor Club holds.
As the summer population on Nantucket has grown, island friendships have become harder to make. New visitors to the island tell us they vacation here with their families and invite off-island friends, but have few gathering places to connect to other families who prize their time on Nantucket. Membership in The Westmoor Club is a sure way to put down or lengthen your island roots. The Club is a place to connect, year after year, with people who share your love of the active life and the charms Nantucket spreads before her visitors.
The old-fashioned way of describing a place like The Westmoor Club would be to call it a 'Field Club'. With more than a dozen courts for tennis, paddle tennis and two squash courts, one pool, with what is without exception the island's finest fitness and health center, The Westmoor Club is for active people. But 'Field Club' doesn't take in the side of Westmoor that honors Nantucket's nautical tradition.
The Club has recently acquired full ownership of the magnificent and classic 77' wooden yacht, Belle. We continue to share our limited partnership in Onawa, one of the worlds last few remaining 12 meter sail boats, who is typically on Nantucket for a week in August. Members are able to board in Nantucket Harbor and cruise the harbor on cocktail and dinner trips, lunch outings, front row views at yacht races, and voyages of discovery in Nantucket Sound. In addition to Belle, we also have available for our member's use a new, fully equipped and crewed sport fishing boat for private charters and club sponsored excursions. In the effort to raise boys and girls who are at home on boats, the Club has arranged with Nantucket Community Sailing to allow the children of members to conveniently participate in NCS's highly regarded sailing program.
So many choices of things to do means Westmoor's membership of 480 families will bring a variety of interests. You and your family are sure to spark new friendships and associations that will endure from generation to generation.
