The Westmoor Club Story

Our door is open. Come take a look and see what Nantucket’s premier private club is all about.

History

The colonial Revival mansion, what we today call our Club House, was built in 1917 for Alice Vanderbilt, great-granddaughter of Cornelius “Commodore” Vanderbilt. In 1953, Francis Edward Holdgate, an Islander and engineer for the United States Coast Guard purchased Westmoor Farm and transformed the private home into The Westmoor Inn. In 2003, the 15-acre property was purchased and restored with care and craftsmanship by architect J. Graham Goldsmith and Alan Worden to create The Westmoor Club.  Graham was inspired by his great-grandfather, Federick H. Webster, who in 1921, assisted David Gray in forming the Sankaty Head Golf Club.  The Westmoor Club was built on the values of friends and family, of vigorous games and good health, of common courtesy and respect, all amidst Nantucket's natural beauty.

15-Acres

Nantucket is known for its beautiful beaches, small town atmosphere, fishing, world class food, events, and outdoor activities. The Westmoor Club ties all these gems into one exceptional private club experience. We are only a short walk from historic downtown Nantucket and across the street from some of the island’s best beaches. The Club encompasses 15-acres of dramatic courts, sparkling pools, lush gardens, and rolling moorland grasses. We have 12 Har-Tru tennis courts, two grass tennis courts, a croquet lawn, two indoor squash courts, a family pool, an adult pool, pickleball/paddle tennis courts, a state-of the art Wellness Center, and much more.

Privately owned

The Westmoor Club is privately owned and operated by professionals who are focused on delivering an outstanding membership experience. At Westmoor, we pride ourselves on providing first-class service.
